If you’re in the process of designing or renovating a space, you may be considering a sliding door as a stylish and space-saving solution. However, before you make any decisions, it’s essential to consider a few crucial factors.
In this blog post, we will provide you with five things to consider before installation so you can make an informed decision and avoid any potential issues down the line.
Why Bris Aluminium cavity door sliders are a fit-out favourite
If we were to describe our cavity door sliders in three words, it’d be: versatile, compact, and convenient.
They’re ideal for smaller rooms where space is a premium, such as medical fit outs, IT rooms, boardrooms, and apartments. But they’re versatility doesn’t stop there, because we offer adaptors to suit 10mm plasterboard and 6mm villa board too.
What’s more, our slider kits come in a flat pack and are incredibly easy to install. Pre-punched holes and even a handy install guide online, means you’ll save on time and labour.[LBDC1]
Utility doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. We know a sleek, polished look is important when it comes to fit outs, and it’s why we include pelmets in every kit.
Plus, the smooth glide you get with the built-in Swiss-engineered rollers is 10/10.
With customisable options available to meet individual door requirements, it’s no wonder that Bris Aluminium cavity door sliders are the go-to choice for fit out builders.
The 5 factors to consider before installing a sliding door
Before you rush to install a sliding door, it’s important to take these five factors into consideration to ensure that it’s the best fit for your space and needs:
1. Disability code requirements:
To meet the disability wheelchair standard, a clear opening of at least 850mm is necessary. This ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, can easily access the space.
2. Door handle requirements:
Ensure you leave at least 60mm on either side of the handle to ensure people can open the door with ease and comfort.
3. Maximum door weight:
Our sliders have a maximum door weight of 100kgs. Make sure to choose a door that does not exceed this.
4. Cavity thickness vs door thickness:
The cavity in which the sliding door is installed must be suitable for the thickness of the door. This means that you’ll need to choose a cavity slider that can accommodate either 35mm or 40mm thick doors.
5. Door size options:
Consider the size of the opening where you’ll be installing the sliding door. Bris Al’s sliding doors are available in two size options: 2700 x 1200 and 2400 x 1500.
Types of cavity sliding doors
Bris Aluminium offers two types of cavity sliding doors: the Standard Supreme Cavity with 20mm architrave, and the flush set cavity for our Supreme 64mm Range. Choose the style that best fits your project’s needs.
When a cavity sliding door isn’t the right choice
If a sliding door doesn’t work for the space, consider our Supreme Door Frame Kit. It’s an excellent alternative for when your door is too heavy or thick.
